Singapore Exchange (SGX) is introducing a new Mini Challenge running event for individuals and teams from its international network of corporate partners, as fundraising for SGX Cares Bull Charge beneficiaries gathers pace ahead of the annual Charity Run grand finale.

The Mini Challenge, to be held from 1 to 3 October, will involve local and overseas participants completing a 5km route of their choice. The event will serve as a warmup to the 18th Virtual Charity Run, which flags off with a 3.2km Chief Challenge on 29 October, followed by a Mass Run through 7 November. Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Minister for Education, will be the Guest-of-Honour at the Chief Challenge for CEOs and chiefs of companies.

SGX Cares, the collective name for SGX’s CSR efforts, aims to create positive impact by activating the power of community. Bull Charge is its flagship fundraising initiative and since 2004, has raised S$42 million for more than 50 charities and a variety of causes. Last year, to prioritise the health and safety of participants, the Bull Charge Charity Run successfully pivoted to a virtual format, which enabled runners to join in from different cities for the first time. This year’s event will feature an updated mobile app with real-time GPS mapping. Registration for the Virtual Charity Run for participating sponsors is now open at https://bullcharge.sgx.com.

Partnering with Community Chest, all proceeds from SGX Cares Bull Charge fundraising activities will be channelled to the adopted beneficiaries: AWWA Ltd., Autism Association (Singapore), Fei Yue Community Services, HCSA Community Services and Shared Services for Charities.

Lee Beng Hong, SGX Cares Chairman and Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities at SGX, said, “We are delighted to bring something new to our fundraising efforts each year with the support and commitment of our corporate sponsors. SGX Cares beneficiaries can always count on this diverse international community of business, data and technology partners, as well as our staff volunteers, to exemplify the spirit of ‘Better Happens Together’.”

SGX Cares Bull Charge is the only corporate charity initiative that brings together the financial community and SGX-listed companies to support the needs of underprivileged children and families, persons with disabilities, as well as the elderly. G.H.Y. Culture & Media Holdings is the sponsor of this year’s Mini Challenge.
